A TAIL OF TWO SAMMYS

BO (formally known as BOO)

NIKKO

ME & THE BOYS
Our story begins with an ending. It has been almost one year since our beloved Chester, a 10 yr old Sammy passed away. He was the most lovable guy and upon his passing Joan and I thought that we could never love another dog that much again. Then about a month later, NIKKO came into our lives - he's the big guy on the bottom. We traveled all the way to Milwaukee, WI. to pick him up on thanksgiving day from the Wisconsin Samoyed Rescue group known as Playing Again Sams. Nikko's history was typical of rescue dogs, the litter was turned into a shelter, he was adopted out and then within a short time sent back into a shelter. Playing Again Sams got him when he was 15 months old. Within a month he was on his way to Michigan with us. Our first meeting was wonderful; he came right up to both of us and introduced himself in a typical Sammy way---big smile and tail wagging! On the ride home he constantly tried to get on my lap in the front seat. What a load! All 80 pounds of him! It only took him a week to get used to his new back yard, his house and us. He is just one big affectionate puppy with plenty of energy. Then in September we decided to see if we could find NIKKO a brother or sister because he loved doggie day care and playing with the other dogs so much.
Then while surfing the Sammy rescue sites, we found BO (formally known as BOO). He's the guy on the right. BO came from the Michigan Samoyed Rescue. His history was that he was tied to a shelter door in Grand Rapids. Thank god for Sarah who rescued him. BO is about 2 yrs. old and such a wonderful little guy (we call him the little one because he is only 68 pounds as compared to NIKKO's 80). When Richard and Sarah received our application they thought that BO would be a good fit for our home because they remembered us from the house visit they did for Maria, of Playing Again Sams about one year ago. The first time that we met BO it was pure joy! You just had to see his little smiling face coming toward you and it didn't take long before he was hoping into your lap. We introduced him to his new brother - who was just too anxious to greet him that same day. BO was a little cautious at first but eventually NIKKO wore him down and they began to play. At first I was concerned that it was too rough and after a call to Sarah I was a relieved to find out it was normal.
Today, the two boys are inseparable! They play, eat and sleep together. Where one goes, the other will shortly follow - especially on the bed. It is amazing how each one has their own personalities. BO a little more independent and vocal than NIKKO really likes to cuddle. NIKKO prefers to either play with BO or with toys - cuddling is his third option. Both are just pure sweeties and we couldn't be happier then with these two boys. We would like to thank Maria from Playing Again Sams and to both Sarah and Richard from the Michigan Samoyed Rescue for providing us with an opportunity to provide a home for these two sweet little souls.

Merry Christmas to All!!
